Welcome to Gasrec FUTURE-PROOF FUELS Gasrec is Europe's only producer of Liquefied Biomethane (LBM).

One Supply Chain

Gasrec was formed in 2003 to develop a process for the clean-up and liquefaction of methane from landfill gas, anaerobic digestion and other stranded sources.

In January 2007, following 5 years of technology development, construction began on its first plant at SITA’s Albury landfill site in Surrey.

The plant was commissioned in June 2008 with capacity to produce approximately 4,300 tonnes of liquid biomethane per annum (equivalent to 5.2m litres of diesel).

This plant was the first in the world to manufacture liquefied biomethane on a commercial scale, paving the way for Gasrec to develop into a leader in the UK liquefied gas fuel market.

Gasrec is Europe’s only producer of Liquefied Biomethane (LBM).

This leading biofuel is combined with Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) to become Gasrec’s unique offering: Bio-LNG. Bio-LNG combines the class leading carbon and pollution reductions of LBM with the cost competitiveness and widespread availability of LNG.

Catch up with Gasrec’s latest developments and future plans for rolling out Bio-LNG infrastructure; to support fleet operators implementation of dual fuel vehicles.
Gasrec, Europe’s only provider of Bio-LNG, has announced a new partnership with B&Q, the UK’s largest home improvement retailer. Gasrec is helping B&Q to lead the way in creating a greener fleet with the arrival of 50 dual fuel lorries powered by biomethane — natural gas produced by waste.
